MB BS FRCS (Tr&Orth)

Mr R. Lloyd Williams is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Specialising in Foot and Ankle Disorders. He also treats general trauma.

Career

Graduating from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College in 1986, I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1990.

Having completed a six year higher surgical training programme at the Royal National Orthopaedic, Middlesex and University College Hospitals in London, I gained the FRCS(Orth) accreditation exam in 1996. Subsequently, I undertook Visiting Fellowships in Dublin, Ireland and Houston, Texas studying Foot and Ankle Surgery.

In 1997, I became Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the University College London Hospitals NHS Trust specialising in Foot and Ankle Disorders and was until 2001 Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to Saracens RFC. I am a Fellow of the British, Irish, European and American Foot and Ankle Societies and have published research papers in my field of expertise in the European and American Medical Literature. I was Convenor of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Foot and Ankle Surgery Course from 1999 to 2007 together with faculty membership of various national and international foot and ankle surgery teaching courses and seminars.

In full time private practice since 2004, my special interests include forefoot reconstruction for hallux valgus (bunions) and correction of hindfoot deformity and arthritis. I also practise Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Surgery (MIS) a new and revolutionary procedure that is used to treat a number of common foot conditions.

I have extensive experience in the management of foot and ankle disorders in professional and amateur athletes and sportsmen including football, rugby union and league players. I have been variously Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to the Royal Ballet Company, English National Ballet and Central School of Ballet and regularly attend to young ballerinas and dancers with injuries sustained during training and performance.

I am a founding Partner of The London Orthopaedic Clinic (TLOC), now based at King Edward VII’s Hospital, London W1 and also hold clinics at Wellington Diagnostics and Outpatients Centre, London NW11. I operate at King Edward VII’s Hospital, Princess Grace Hospital and Portland Hospital as necessary.

Hi Millie (and Mr Williams),

My feet are finally dry and legs no longer ache so I thought I’d send you a little photo from the Venice marathon!!! The weather was brutal and running the final two miles through flooded streets was interesting to say the least. Managed to finish in 3hrs 55mins (a gentle plod, as instructed… HA!) so I was very happy. I also somehow ended up pacing the race for the two men in the photo who announced at mile 24 that they had been following me the whole way.

A big, big thank you for all your support and care- I meant so much to me to be able to run and I couldn’t have done it without you all.

I have a little something that I want to send over to Wimpole Street to say thank you- please could you let me know when you are all in clinic and I’ll arrange for it to be delivered? Afraid I may not be able to hand deliver it myself… what time do you close this week?

Best wishes,
Rachel

Testimonials

“Mr Williams did double bunion surgery for me at the King Edward VII hospital 7 weeks ago. As soon as I met him I could see I was in good hands! He is extremely kind, approachable, professional and skilful. I have been putting off surgery for years but have been pleasantly surprised by the recovery - I was walking on day one with very little discomfort. Follow up has also been very good and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Mr Williams.”

“Fast and efficient service.”

“The staff were very professional and courteous. Mr Williams was very helpful and took the time to explain my condition so that I better understood it, then contacted the clinic to which he referred me to on my behalf. It was an exceptional experience.”

"Excellent service, everyone very friendly. I felt taken care as if I was part of a family.

I was made to feel very comfortable by all the staff.

Well done Ros and Lloyd!"

“First class consultation. Great guy. Inspired confidence.”

"With special thanks to Mr Williams, his assistant Millie, Dr Deane Halfpenny, his assistant Russell, Nadene plus others. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Queries were answered immediately. Everyone was efficient and kind. Medical assistance on this level is a rarity. Thank you."

"Praise all around for London Orthopaedic Clinic. My experience of Mr Lloyd Williams, Foot and Ankle Surgeon and his impressive team (Bookings, Reception, PA - Millie, Radiographer and nurse) was nothing but positive. Not many places where you can get investigation, diagnosis and treatment from a top specialist, in a single visit. Highly recommendable!"

"Your kindness and compassion surpassed anything that I’ve encountered before. During the highs and the lows of my journey, and there were quite a few, you always showed me empathy, and had time for me no matter what you were doing."

"I made it to Royal Ascot in heels and in a pretty shoe! No air cast boot, or crutches, or post op shoe this year! Yes, last 4 summers I’ve been incapacitated-foot wise, one way or another - and this year I achieved my goal of getting to Royal Ascot in a high heeled pretty shoe. This is all down to Mr Williams and his team."

"Was seen ahead of schedule as had arrived early. Mr Lloyd Williams was clear and to the point.”

“He is one of the most talented men I have ever met. Thanks to him I can tap dance again”

“So this morning I am delighted to say , I currently feel little pain in my lower leg and I have very little pain in my ankle too. When I compare the pain to the last few years and most recent days post-surgery, and as you know I would of consented to you taking a chain-saw to the leg! So the leg it feeling really good and let hope its lasts. You have clearly done some something amazing! Thank you all.”

“I had exceptionally good care and I recommend LOC (and especially Mr Williams) very highly”

“I am walking without pain for the first time in three years after two failed attempts ( by another surgeon) at resolving a bunion problem. I am beyond grateful for finally having found a surgeon who listened and was not simply guided by what he could see on a screen. I cannot recommend Mr. Lloyd Williams highly enough. The efficiency and kindness of himself and his team will stay with me for a very long time”

“I had such confidence in Mr Williams. He was very caring and thorough with a great sense of humour which was most refreshing.”

“Very helpful, passionate and great knowledge with a brilliant team around him.”

“Excellent surgeon. Everything that was going to happen was explained to me and the result is fantastic. I can walk without pain and have very little scaring. What’s not to be happy with?”

“The operation left me with no pain from the ankle which had been replaced. The stitching healed within two weeks and so far appears very successful. Whenever I have sought advice from the doctor it has been speedy and simple. All in all, a good op with a good result.”

“I saw Mr Lloyd Williams for a sports injury in my foot sustained whilst training for a marathon. He gave me the time I needed to really explain what had happened and it was evident from his detailed follow up letter that he had really listened to me and understood what had happened with my injury. His examination was comprehensive and he also looked at my MRI images with me and properly explained what they meant, so that I understood what was happening...”

"...He also immediately arranged an US for me, which was done then and there in clinic. Most importantly to me he fully explained what the injury was and how we could treat it - and get me back to running as quickly and as safely as possible. It was obvious to me from the first meeting with Mr Williams that he really knows what he’s doing. It means so much to me to run and I feel that I couldn’t have done this without the expertise and time that Mr Williams gave me. I have complete confidence in this doctor - he is up to date, professional and doesn’t waste time. I would recommend my family and friends to him without hesitation.

“Mr Lloyd Williams was great. I felt really confident in his knowledge and he was very considerate. The nurses were very lovely and helpful as well.”

“Mr Lloyd Williams was so helpful and went out of his way to ensure that all the necessary tests were done and followed up with him in one visit as we had travelled a long way to see him. He called us himself with the follow up. All in all a fantastic experience for me as the mother and particularly for my injured son.”

“Excellent surgeon, who operated on the bunions on both my feet with incredible results . I was walking (hobbling) the same day, in trainers less than 6 weeks later doing low impact gym work and able to slowly start running again at 10 weeks. I had no pain and just four stitch marks on each foot, rather than the...”

"...Frankenstein" scarring, I have seen on others. He is approachable, with a great sense of humour and explained everything in detail and the team at King Edward VII are fantastic. A special thanks also to Millie his PA, who answered my every query quickly and enthusiastically. If you are thinking of doing this then please don't hesitate and go to Lloyd. I only wish I could attach photos to this review to show what a great job he did !"
