Dr. Ralph Rogers MD PhD MBA FACN FACSM FFSEM
Sports and Musculoskeletal
Consultant in Sports & Musculoskeletal Medicine
Dr Ralph Rogers is a Consultant in Sports &
Musculoskeletal Medicine specialising in Soft
Tissue injuries, Human Performance, Wellness
and Weight Management.
“I a Consultant in Sports & Musculoskeletal Medicine
specialising in Soft Tissue injuries, Human Performance,
Wellness and Weight Management.
I attended the University of Delaware, where I was
a top college lacrosse player. After graduating with
a degree in Psychology, I travelled to Europe where
I completed medical training at the Catholic University
of Leuven, Belgium. Upon graduating medical school,
I returned to the United States to attend the University
of Maryland, where I received a PhD in Exercise Physiology.
In my search to be the very best I have also gained
additional diplomas and degrees, including a Masters
in Business Administration (MBA), and Fellowships of
the Faculties of American College of Sports Medicine,
the American College of Nutrition, as well as the Faculty
of Sport & Exercise Medicine in the UK and Ireland.
I also hold many prestigious posts and sit on National
Advisory Boards.”
“It is my desire to be at the top of my game that
makes me such a good Consultant in Sports &
Musculoskeletal Medicine. I am a former elite athlete
myself so I understand the needs of athletes needing
the best in Human Performance techniques, nutrition
and sports rehabilitation.”
"I try to seek the best treatments available for sports
& musculoskeletal injuries and often travel to Europe
and the United States to learn about the latest
treatments. I have always taken a multidisciplinary
approach to Sports & Musculoskeletal Medicine."
“Gaining a PhD in Exercise Physiology, together with
additional training in nutritional medicine gives me
a unique perspective for treatment of both professional
athletes and members of the public.
This common sense approach was noted in an article
by the BBC and has led to me being appointed a Medical
Advisor at the highest levels in sport, commercially as
well as being called upon as a Medico Legal advisor
and Insurance report writer.”
"Currently, I am a team physician for various squads for
The FA. I have also held positions with the Warwickshire
County Cricket Club, Birmingham City Football Club, Walsall
Football Club, Birmingham Bullets (Professional Basketball)
as well as being Medical Advisor to Trinidad and Tobago's
2006 World Cup football team.
I have published many articles. One such article
published with my colleague Dr Terence JR Babwah
in the International SportsMed Journal is highly
renowed amongst sports therapists.
The team physician in football: What skills are important?
International Sports Med Journal. 2008.
I also recognise that nutrition and wellness go beyond
the needs of sport and athletes as weight issues are
often related to many musculoskeletal problems.
I am also interested in the obesity epidemic, especially
as it relates to young children. A lot of orthopaedic
problems are related to weight and, if required, I can
help my patients with weight management."
"I try to work out five days a week - cycling, running and
swimming. I also do a few triathlons every year. Medicine
and sport take up a lot of my time but during my free time
I love to travel and enjoy my family.
I also work for a charity – Cycling UK Appeal”
