Career

Mr Parker is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in disorders of the adult foot and ankle. His NHS practice is based in the foot and ankle and limb reconstruction unit of the Royal London and Newham University Hospital.

He qualified from the University of Southampton in 2002 and was awarded a distinction in medical sciences. He undertook research within the University Orthopaedic Department at Southampton General Hospital before his orthopaedic training on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore rotation. He has worked in several highly regarded hospitals within London during his training including the Royal Free, Great Ormond Street and the tertiary referral foot and ankle unit of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

Mr Parker has undertaken advanced foot and ankle fellowship training within the Avon Orthopaedic Unit in Bristol focusing on arthroscopic ankle and hindfoot surgery. He was also awarded the European Foot and Ankle Society travelling fellowship in 2014 taking him through specialist foot and ankle units in Switzerland, Belgium and Spain.

He was awarded the W.J Little Medal by the Seddon Society for his published research into foot and ankle fusion. In addition to numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals Mr Parker has authored book chapters on osteochondral lesions of the talus, foot and ankle fusion and tumours of the foot and ankle. He also co-edited the foot and ankle section of the EFOST surgical techniques in sports medicine series. He is a faculty member on several courses including the London Basic Sciences for FRCS and Queens Hospital FRCS course and regularly lectures on foot and ankle surgery to trainees on the Royal London and Percival Pott registrar training rotations as well as to G.Ps, physiotherapists and medical students. He was a member of the medical team offering specialist support for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in London.

Mr Parker enjoys informing and educating patients about their foot and ankle condition, believing they are pivotal in ensuring success in treatment. His areas of expertise include:
