David Floyd MA. MB. BChir. MSc. FRCS (Eng). FRCS (Plast)
David Floyd is a Consultant Plastic, Hand and micro-
surgeon. He is a Consultant and Honorary Senior
Lecturer at The Royal Free and University College
Hospitals in Central London. He is registered with
the General Medical Council (GMC) as a Specialist
in Plastic Surgery and is a full member of the British
Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic
Surgeons (BAPRAS), and the British Society for
Surgery of the Hand (BSSH).
Mr Floyd has extensive experience in soft tissue
reconstruction of the arm and leg in both adults
and children. This includes treatment of injuries with
severe skin wounds and injuries involving damage to
tendons, nerves and blood vessels, with microsurgical
reconstruction when required. Other conditions which
require the specialist expertise of a hand surgeon
include Dupuytren’s disease, ganglions, tendon
transfer, tendon reconstruction, fingertip
reconstruction, neuromas, nerve reconstruction
and congenital hand deformities such as syndactyly
and duplicate thumb.
David Floyd graduated from Cambridge University in
1985 and completed his medical degree at University
College Hospital London in 1988. Following 4 years of
General Surgical training he became a Fellow of the
Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1993. In 1995 he
was awarded a Masters degree (MSc) for his research
into scarring and wound healing. During 8 years of
specialist training in Plastic Surgery he undertook a
9 month fellowship in paediatric hand surgery at the
internationally acclaimed Great Ormond Street Hospital
and 12 months training in lower limb reconstruction at
Charring Cross Hospital. He achieved accreditation in
plastic surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons,
FRCS (Plast) in 2001.
