Terms & Conditions

YOUR CARE A patient is under the care and guidance of his/her physician/surgeon associated with The London Orthopaedic Clinic (TLOC), who may also involve other doctors in your treatment if appropriate. TLOC physician/surgeon will always inform your referrer and/or GP of your treatment unless otherwise requested by you, the patient.

THE LAW This contract is between TLOC, providing the services and the patient. The contract shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law and the English Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction. The patient’s, representative’s or Guarantor’s signature confirms acceptance of the terms and conditions of admission.

PAYMENT The patient is liable for all expenses and any charges not settled by an insurer or sponsor.

CARD DETAILS TLOC requests that credit/debit card details are provided to be kept securely in the eventuality of payment being required for insurance shortfalls and consultation/treatment/medical aid purchases. No payments will be taken without the patient/cardholder first being informed via post/email giving a 14 day payment notification. All information supplied will be treated as strictly confidential and not be passed on to any 3rd Parties. Unfortunately you will be unable to proceed with your consultation should you decline to submit this information and sign this consent form.

INSURED PATIENTS TLOC will process insurance claims directly with approved insurers on the patient’s behalf, except for medical aids, providing the patient has provided correct and sufficient Insurance details. It is the patient’s responsibility to verify with their insurer that the condition to be treated is covered by their insurance. TLOC is not responsible for this verification. Insufficient documentation will prevent direct settlements and may result in the account being billed to the patient. Any shortfalls in benefit are the patient’s responsibility. Should the patient’s insurer determine that the care and treatment is not covered under the patient’s insurance policy, the patient agrees that he/she will be liable for the portion of the charges that are not settled.

SPONSORED PATIENTS We accept direct settlement arrangements only with whom we have an agreement. If such an agreement is not in place, the patient will be asked to settle the account with us and seek to recover the sum from the sponsor. Where the agreement is in place we must have a letter of guarantee specific to the admission/treatment/medical aid.

SELF FUNDING We require payment in full on the day or before the time of consultation/treatment/medical aid purchase. This can be done by debit/credit card, cheque or cash.

MEDICAL AIDS All self funding and Insured patients will be liable and responsible to pay for medical aids on the day of purchase. Insured patients will be given a receipt of purchase and can use this to claim the monies back from their Insurer. NB Not all Insurers or policies cover Medical aids. It is the insured patient’s responsibility to claim this money back from their Insurer, not TLOC.

NON ATTENDANCE TLOC requests that you contact us if you are for any reason unable to attend any consultations giving at least 24 hours notice. Failure to contact us without giving 24 hours notice will result in a non attendance fee of £50.00 being charged. Extenuating circumstances will be considered.

VALUABLES TLOC does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for the loss of any cash or valuables belonging to patients or visitors.

CONFIDENTIALITY The confidentiality of the patient is of paramount concern to TLOC. TLOC is fully committed to compliance with Data Protection legislation and medical confidentiality guidelines.

MEDICAL INFORMATION Medical information will be kept confidential. It will be disclosed only to those involved with treatment or care or to their agent and, if applicable, to any person or organisation who may be responsible for meeting your treatment expenses, or their agents.
