Symptoms include pain in the upper arm and shoulder which is particularly painful at night and limited movement. Physiotherapy in conjunction with anti-inflammatory medication can help this condition. Cortisone (steroid injections) can also control pain. Open or arthroscopic surgery may be required if the tear is through the entire thickness of the tendon.
