The hand and wrist are the most commonly injured part of the body. The hand’s function is sensation and grip. Internal complex structures of tendons, nerves and blood supply can unfortunately be damaged.
The London Orthopaedic Hand/Wrist team will be able to treat patients needing simple tendon repairs through to more complex conditions /severe injury. The hand and wrist may require restoration of blood and nerve supply by transplanting new arteries and nerves to the injured or diseased site. Tendons can also be re-routed to various sites to help restore movement and grip function. Recovery could take 4-12 weeks depending on the individual procedure.
The Hand/Wrist team work closely with various hand therapists in the London area and our consultants will work closely with the most suitable specialist for your rehab.
